I'm not very good at writing about personal things. Who knows why? So, I'll try to ease back into blogging by posting items of interest (to me or people I care about).
This first one is about public radio station
WUNC in Chapel Hill, N.C. (of all entities!) putting restrictions on how one of their sponsors could describe their mission statement. It seems ominious to me when
NPR (the most intelligent voice in radio) allows companies with
questionable practicies or
poor service (I'm a former customer) to be listed as sponsors on national news programs and describe themselves as wonderful companies, yet they are requiring
this nonprofit to remove the word 'rights' from their sponsorship statement about who they are.
You may have seen something about this in the news. Here is their
press release and one of the
articles about the restriction of their freedom of speech related to the word 'rights'. It's interesting and disturbing to see how big business can say what they want, even when it is not true, while an agency that is not in line with those in power is stopped from verbally expressing their purpose.
You can support their right to freedom of speech by signing their online
petition.
Maybe it's time to blog again.
